Folk comes from the German word ‘Volk’ meaning ‘the people’, and folk music is often described as being the music belonging to ‘the people’.
We will talk about the mysterious, melodic and magical folk music of the British Isles and discuss what some of the most loved songs, including "The Trees Grow High", "The Unquiet Grave" and "The Sprig of Thymer", actually mean. We will also listen to various old and new recordings, and if you want, you can even sing along.
