As a UNESCO Learning City and resilience hub of the Making Cities Resilient 2030 initiative of UNDRR, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Bonn is contributing to the thematic series on “Securities” at Bonns Adult Lerning Center with presentations on resilience and disaster risk reduction as a cross cutting issue.

Climate change, land degradation, drought, and the loss of biodiversity are closely linked. The discussion in English will highlight how synergies between the major agendas for land, climate, and nature can help build resilience and maintain security for people.
After an introduction by Anja Gassner, who will also lead the discussion, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Executive Secretary of the Convention to Combat Desertification, will address the audience. Already in her capacity as Egypt's Minister of Environment, she played key roles in conferences of the parties on climate and biodiversity. Her keynote will be followed by a panel discussion.
Questions from the audience are welcome. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for further exchange over refreshments.
