Crime has featured in literature over two millennia, but it has been through the last two centuries that the tradition has really thrived. Especially English literature offers a wide and fascinating variety of crime fiction. In this class, we want to discuss not only books or short stories, but also take a look at their various adaptations for TV and cinema.
We will start with the most famous of all fictional detectives, Mr. Sherlock Holmes, and his very first appearance on the literary stage in "A Study in Scarlet". Our other picks will include works by the Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie, as well as more recent publications. Feel free to bring ideas to our first lesson!
