The rapid advancements in A.I. technology carry great potential for benefitting healthcare delivery in Sub-Saharan Africa. Without careful algorithmic consideration, however, there is a real risk of furthering systemic marginalization by encoding preexisting biases.
A PhD candidate from the University of Ghana, Peace Yawa Avornyo is currently a visiting Argelander Scholar with the Institute for Science and Ethics (IWE) of the University of Bonn. Her research highlights the importance of creating technological futures rooted in justice through an epistemic lense.
